She was walking up Grand / Looking for an Opportunity Protest With crop top and plaid pants / she picked up at St Vincent De Paul's He was coming from Hannah's, from another dimension Either talking bout Sarte or talking bout The Art of War She was out of his league But he was out of his mind It was a time to explore To get lost and to find, each other It was the hottest day, since that May heatwave last summer When wearing something close to nothing became a viable option And all the Dad's in their Vans did a double take look from the corner She laughed and said, "you can look but, you're so out of touch" Together they connected - I guess you could call it a Summit And by the Governor's mansion they left no traces to be discovered Or so they thought All the joy, and all the sorrow For the boys, and the girls of tomorrow Laughing at the time, that we try to borrow From the Boys and Girls of Tomorrow They were two Dharma Bums looking for a forest fire still burning With all they learned at the College, you'd think they'd be more discerning You can scheme you can dream but one thing is for certain That when Hannah found out, that's when it all got real She didn't Take It Easy Or very well at all There was no one there, at the bottom to catch her fall

Someone goes on last Someone goes on first Lowest on the bill Doesn't mean you're the worst Setting up our amps At the front of the stage Wait until the end of the night Just in case we get paid Tonight we're opening, for the opening band We got better songs, but we don't have an agent If we were better looking, we'd already have made it It's who you are, and who you know How's your Facebook skills, can you get her to the show? Don't blow it now, Chris in the front row Don't blow it now The bass player's not melodic The drummer's too robotic Guitarist can't wail Singer needs to do more scales Sound man quit before sound check Feedback Feedback, the first song's wrecked My best friend showed up late Missed the set, but he said we were great Can you give us hand? Cause we've got big plans Maybe one day our name will be on top of the marquee But tonight we're together Even if we're not the band you came to see

Do you remember OJ's glove? Do you remember our vows of love? You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You Do you remember dialing up? Do you remember giving a cuff? Do you remember Y2K? Do you remember us yesterday? Do you remember Monica's dress? Do you remember saying yes? Do you remember Husker Du? Do you remember me and you? You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You Walks in the park talking 'bout dreams Those nights in the dark, now what's it all mean You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You!

Somewhere between a boy and man Not everything goes according to plan You're parents and teachers and even you're mind You're looking for something you can't seem to find And you hear, it's a phase But what does that mean to you now? And you head it will pass But it doesn't change the sadness, right now Somewhere between a Boy and a Man You want to sit down but they tell you to stand You're up in the air, even your mind Looking for something you can't seem to find

You were just a boy back when it began Parading down Grafton Street Quickly learned with a wink and a nod Got whatever you'd need Had a way with the words and the birds and the boys at the bar Took the kid out of Dublin, maybe you took it too far Thinking about the dad you never knew Thinking about the mother that left you Thinking about the dreams you made come true But it was all too much for you Had the soul of a poet, looks for the stage A nose for success trapped you in a cage Couldn't stand to be alone when the music was done Couldn't stop flying too close to the sun A cowboy, a rocker, a fighter just the same Some are not suited to fortune and fame Coulda turned out alright Maybe your star burned too bright You gave your soul - to believe in rock and roll I still believe in rock and roll Do we believe in rock and roll? Your will was weak, the horse was strong Rode you hard til you were gone You left us with a tear, and a song that we still sing About brotherhood and Boys Back in Town That jukebox in the corner still playing it loud Cause that's when it feels, like you're still here It was all too much for you.

The Sins of the Father, pass down through the time Try to undo all the knots in the twine But she don't know where we're going She don't know where we been The stones on the floor will collect all your tears And this is how it begins The mirror on the wall will refract your emotions Reminding once more we're just drops in the ocean And we don't know where we're going We don't know where we've been Inscrutable laughter ebbs out with the tide And this is how it begins The Sins of the Fathers pass down to the sons You race with the devil but you can't outrun And they don't know where we're going They don't know where we been The door is ajar so walk out of your cell And this is how it...

about

THANK YOU FRIENDS is just what it says - our thanks to you, plus our mantra to ourselves, and our feelings of gratitude and appreciation, as we climb out of the debris of the past few years and into the future, one step at a time. It's the record and songs we've been crafting over the past couple years, since the pandemic began, since we added Larry on keys, since we collaborated with Paul Odegaard on trumpet and Meghan Kreidler on some of these songs. We thought about calling the record You Must Destroy What Will Destroy You, but after we saw the photo of Winston, we knew we had to channel our energy for the positive! We hope you agree. Dogs don't know who is President, or anything about a virus or a war, but they know they love their family, their neighbors (even the cats on the block), and their friends. Thank you friends, with love, Saint Small
